10.03.2008 Baby Ben!Congratulations to Dave as he Becomes a Father!
Late on the night of October 3rd, the universe welcomed Dave and Danielle's new son Benjamin Barron Mansbach into existence. He came out of the womb playing air guitar with his crazy-long bass player fingers. He's still working on making Dave's guitar face, but we are all confident that he'll get it in time. Dave is happy as he cleans up an "infinite number of poops" and learns that the lack of sleep from playing shows is nothing compared to the first weeks of parenthood! |

08.18.2007 LABOR! PARTY!Brent Gummow adjests the lights on the set of Labor! Party! Brent and I were asked to join the Kojak Creative Team to make a short film for the 48 Hour Film Project between August 17-19. Brent Co-Directed and edited. I wrote the music (we also used a few seconds of Kiss My Converse). We both did a little writing and acting. Eric Alleman, Joe Day and I play thugs. Thugging is wicked awesome btw. I totally channeled my favorite thug from Jackie Chan's "Rumble in the Bronx". The film debuted Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Cedar Lee Theatre. Unfortunately, we were 15 minutes late handing it in (evidently, you only get 48 hours to make the film when participating in a 48 hour film contest), so we weren't eligible to win any of the jury prizes, but we did win the audience award for best film. Special thanks to Chuck Karnak and ALL GO SIGNS for providing the backdrop for, and actively participating in, the closing sequences of our little film. Please keep in mind, it was written, filmed and edited in 48 hours and needed to include the following items: 1. A notebook 2. A Cleveland landmark 3. The following line of dialogue: "Don't use that one." 4. A character named either Paul or Peg Wiltz (who is a dishwasher) 5. We drew the genre "Holiday Film" out of a hat -David Mansbach Cleveland, OH. Photo: David Mansbach |

09.16.2006 Indy Mall StrikeThe mall workers were on strike here at one of the stinkiest corners in Indianapolis. There were a dozen police officers and half a dozen news cameras on the spot. In a particularly shameful moment of non-solidarity with our brothers and sisters in minimum wage, we snuck in through the parking garage so we could pass the time in the movie theater. Brent and I watched first 20 minutes of "The Covenant" which promised to be a piece of crap and left early to see "Black Dahlia" (two thumbs down). Matt and Ron saw "Little Miss Sunshine" (four thumbs up, Brent and I saw it last month). After the movie, Matt returned to the hotel with a migrane. May 2006 The Big TakeoverYou can read a fantastic review of Infinite Number of Sounds "Radio Whales" in this issue of The Big Takeover! It is available pretty much everywhere. Pick it up. The review is sandwiched between "i love you but i 've chosen darkness" and the make up. Here's a quick taste: "this is a rare combination of oddball creativity and fiery playing...". |

04.22.2006 Witness!Post game outside the Q. The Cleveland Cleveland Cavaliers win their first playoff game in eight years vs. the Washington Wizards. Donyell Marshall becomes player of the game with 19 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. LeBron James plays buzzer to buzzer and becomes only the 3rd player in NBA history to score a triple double in his first playoff game. It was the first playoff triple-double in team history. LeBron finished with 32 points, 11 assists and 11 boards. In the photo (left to right): Dad, Sam Dean "Science Machine", Laura, Brent, Danielle and me. That's LeBron posterized 7 stories tall in the background. He looked a lot smaller from where we were sitting. We were all witnesses. Photo: Some anonymous guy on a cell phone. |

04.22.2006 Make Some Noise! The Cleveland Cavaliers vs. the Washington Wizards (Game 1). Cavliers win 97-86. We were sitting about 10 rows from the very top of the arena (this shot was taken with a zoom lense). Midway through the first period, the ref stopped the game while a stray balloon fell slowly towards the court. Before the balloon could reach referee, LeBron plucked it from the air and crowd chanted MVP! MVP! MVP!. Photo: David Mansbach |

04.04.2006 Tree SleeperTuesday, April 4th was my birthday. Thanks to everyone who wrote to send happy birthday wishes. I spent most of the day at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. I love animals and I love our Zoo here in Cleveland. Danielle and I have been members for several years. Support your Zoo. Here in Cleveland, you can get a 1 year individual pass for $50 which admits one named adult plus one guest on every visit. It is a fantastic deal and it will get you into most other zoos in the region for free or for 1/2 off. Photo: David Mansbach |

04.04.2006 Roo!Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. As it was a Tuesday in April, the Zoo was almost completely empty. The Kangaroos were loving it. They were laying across the footpath and kept screwing with the guy who ran the little train through the Australian exhibit. They would stand still as the train approached and bolt across the train's path at the last possible second. Two of them waited by a fence which divided the Roos from the Wallabys and bolted through when the fence opened. They bolted back through when the train came back. Photo: David Mansbach |

04.04.2006 FossaCleveland Metroparks Zoo. The Fossa is definitely in my top 5 favorite animals. Unfortunately they eat Lemurs (which are cute), but I have theory that Fossas are so cute because they eat Lemurs. Foxes are cute because they eat Chinchillas and Rabbits. Polar Bears are cute because they eat seals etc. It's just a theory. It's the circle of life. Photo: David Mansbach |

02.12.2006 - 2:56am Polaris ParkwayWe stopped to refuel at the BP off Polaris Parkway. This is our usual stop en route from Cincinnati or Columbus. A few months ago Brent and I started going to the Steak & Shake across the street for grilled cheese after refueling. Ron and Matt came in with us for the first time. It was actually the first time Ron hadn't slept through the stop. When we walked in the woman at the counter asked if something smelled like fish. I swear it wasn't us... to the best of my knowledge. Then she insinuated we were bar drunks when I couldn't find my money. Then she berated Matt for not tipping her even though we were just ordering takeout at the counter. Ron muttered a sentence containing the words "bitch" and "no tip" and immediately karma knocked his shake to the floor where he lost his cherry and whip cream. I have no idea when karma will kick the unpleasant waitress in the ass, but I hope to read about it in the next Darwin Awards book. Photo: David Mansbach |

06.12.2004 Naughty Canadian Starlets #2Here we are outside our venue at North by Northeast in Toronto. You need to know that Matt is holding: "Naughty Canadian Starlets #2". He found it in an alley behind the venue. No, it wasn't good. There were mullets... the mullet evidently being a popular hair style in Canadian porn in 2004. This show have really kicked ass if we weren't forced to follow a "Canadian Idol" reject. Photo: J Scott Franklin |

04.24.2004 - Cleveland, OH INS Label ShowcaseJ Scott Franklin 's release party for Infinite Number of Sounds recording company's second release "Chain of Words". Ron and I spent a year with J Scott and a half-dozen other musicians, working in the studio, on this album. The album release showcase was one of the best shows I have ever played and one of the most rewarding evenings of my artistic career. All of our friends and collaborators were involved. Matt open with a solo "Nemo Nemon" set. To Box With Man followed. J Scott Franklin played with Chris Bober and dancer Amy Montonini. There is a really great thread about it on ExperimentalBehavior.com with a ton of comments and more photos. Pictured in this photo: Heather Manalili (violin), J Scott Franklin (trumpet), David Mansbach (bass, Matt Mansbach (electric guitar), Chris Bober (accordion), Daniel Raible (acoustic guitar). 2.16.2001 - Cleveland, OH Performance 2This is a still screen capture from a video of our 2nd show. In this shot, we are performing an early version of "Tribal Bush People", which was the working title for the song we eventually recorded and released as Eric Alleman's story of "The Red Human-Headed Bull" on our second album Radio Whales. That's Mark Russo on Trumpet. A limited edition live cd from this performance was available via MP3.com. Cleveland, OH Photo: This is a screen capture from a video camera Brent set up. |

In this shot, we are yelling along with the "I'm mad as hell" scene from Network. In the early days, before Brent started doing the live projected video, each of our performances had a theme. The crowd noise/applause from after this particular song was sampled for the introduction to "Kiss My Converse" which appeared on our second album Radio Whales. Spring 1994 - Solon, OH Matt Mansbach Spring 1994I am pretty sure I took this picture of Matt in 1994. He is most likely a 16 year old high school junior.
